Ohio Tax Filing Requirements
Who Must File an Ohio Tax Return:

Residents: All Ohio residents must file an Ohio income tax return unless exempt under R.C. 5747.08.

Part-Year Residents: Part-year residents are subject to Ohio income tax and must file a return.

Nonresidents: Nonresidents must file an Ohio tax return if they have Ohio-sourced income. This includes income earned or received in Ohio through a pass-through entity, unless the entity files a composite Ohio return on behalf of its nonresident owners.
Residents: Generally, all Ohio residents must file an Ohio income tax return unless exempt under R.C. 5747.08.
Nonresidents: Generally, Ohio nonresidents have a filing requirement if their federal adjusted gross income includes any income earned or received in Ohio through a pass-through entity, unless the entity files a composite Ohio return on behalf of its nonresident owners.
This filing requirement applies even if an individual is allowed a nonresident or resident credit under R.C. 5747.05(A) or (B), which eliminates most or all Ohio individual income tax
